Supercharging Scoop’s Election Journalism

scoop-bar

Scoop is opening its election year coverage with an exciting initiative and would appreciate your support. The Open News Project is Scoop’s attempt to ensure political news coverage this election year leads to better outcomes for our society and all New Zealanders. We believe political coverage should focus less on the political game and more on what really matters to you and on finding positive solutions.

How Scoop will ‘Open the Election’
Scoop plans to use open citizen engagement tools and events to engage with our community and bring you closer into the process of shaping our news agenda and influencing political debate. Your perspective will be a starting point for further investigation, analysis, reporting and discussion as we identify and highlight innovative policy solutions options from across the political spectrum.
The Trustees of the Scoop Foundation believe that this crowdfunding and crowdsourcing campaign is an initiative worthy of the support of our members. The Foundation will be involved in delivering the investigative journalism phase of this project along with Scoop and we hope you will also individually support the project financially and participate – your views matter this election year.
Click here to find out more and Pledge now
You will become an ‘Opening the Election’ supporter with some immediate rewards including special weekly ‘Opening the Election’ email updates featuring the latest in political and election news throughout the campaign. You will only be charged if Scoop meets its funding target, and is able to go ahead in full with these plans. They will still be doing this even if the funding goal is not met, but will have to scale back the approach.
Please share this campaign with your network – the more people we can get on board the better for democracy and independent media in New Zealand. Here is a shareable link for this purpose: pldg.me/scoop17

Thank you for standing with us to create a future for independent media,
Margaret Thompson
Chair – Scoop Foundation for Public Interest Journalism.

P.S. Supporting this current Scoop project with a $25 donation will if you wish entitle you to Scoop Foundation annual membership for 2017. This will mean you can access member benefits such as our weekly ‘In the Loop’ newsletter rounding up the top news on Scoop.
