The goals are:

That the New Zealand government acts legally, ethically and democratically in all aspects of its work That the New Zealand media provides a balanced and robust forum for information and debate about the quality of New Zealand’s democracy That New Zealanders are well informed about democracy and actively engage in democratic processes and protecting these

Associated with the three goals are three actions. public good will work with others on these actions.  The first is shouting out  when democracy is attacked, explaining what has gone wrong and why it is a problem. Second are actions to improved the quality of New Zealand’s media including journalistic ethics and funding for public broadcasting. Third is democracy and civics education.  Several conference attendees were concerned with how democracy education is represented by the idea of civics and  the idea of a rounded experiential concept of citizenship both at school and beyond was preferred. We think working  with partners on these three goals with the associated actions will help to ensure the quality of New Zealand’s democracy.
